As reported in the Republican-American and Newsday, a man has been found innocent of hate crimes and assault. A jury in Bantam Superior Court acquitted the young man on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. There was conflicting testimony over who started the fight and where it took place. Defense attorney David Gronbach said the fight was not racially motivated and it was apparent jurors did not believe the complainant’s testimony. The man was acquitted of two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of first-degree intimidation based on bigotry and bias, and third-degree assault.
